Culinary Thursday With Attie!

Well since my first Culinary Thursday was such a hit, I decided to do another - and I have graduated to using real foods this time! I am thinking about making Culinary Thursday a weekly segment, would that be good? Anyways, today's dish is chicken curry! Mmmmm, I love anything with chicken in it, and curries always make our apartment smell so nommy that I can barely stand it!

So first you hafta gets all the ingredients together. Me and my mommeh use 2 pounds of chicken thighs (mmmm!), a really big sweet onion, and then we have our chopped tomatoes (from a can) and all our herbs and spices standing by. Make sure you have your chicken and onion all cut up before you start, it's just easier that way. (Do not handle the sharp stuff yourself - be safe, get your mommeh to help you with that!)
So when you are all ready to go, start the onions with some oil and fresh ground black pepper in your pan. (This is my favorite pan because it is bright orange. It is a lot cooler than any of our other pans.)
When the onions look a little bit clear, toss all your chicken pieces in there and stir it all together good! Now you gotta cook it til the chicken is almost done through.
Okay, time to add the herbs and spices! Yummies! Mix it good, then let it cook for a few minutes to bring out the flavors and aromas. This is where it starts to get fabulous.
Next, add the tomatoes and some water, about a cup of each. Stir it up, then leave it alone. You hasta let it simmer for around 45 minutes before it will be done. That is a verreh long time to wait for foods, isn't it? My mommeh and I used the interval to get in some extra snuggle time, but you can use it for whatever you want.
When you think it is getting close to being finished, start walking around on the counter. Look at the pan and into the pan. Sniff the leftover tomatoes. Just give everything a good once-over. It's good measure.

Wow, all done, look at that! This time we made basmati rice to go with our curry, but usually we like to make naan breads from scratch. My mommeh said that was too time consuming for today, but that's okay, I like the rice just as much.
Hope you enjoyed Culinary Thursday with me, Attie Cattie!!!
