Going Raw, Day 1

Okay so here we go, we is beginning our raw/rotation diet!  After much research, we settled on teh same brand Daisy and Harley eat, and sented my mommeh out to teh store.  She got two small bags of raw frozen medallions, and a bag of the "matching" kibble.  We is starting out wif teh basic flavors of beef and chick-hen, since all this is new to us, and we does not wants to get turned off by some strange exotic flavor at first.

Miss Cake inspecting teh packaging.

For our verreh first try, we gotted our old food, a spoonful of teh new kibble, and half a beef medallion in each bowl.

I liked teh kibble mix, but decided teh lump of raw smushy stuff belonged on teh floor.

"...What!"

And notice that Audrey is nowhere to be see'd.  One sniff of teh medallion and she wanted nothing to do wif her bowl.  She did come back later to eats teh kibbles, but my mommeh ended up having to takes teh meat away.  Well, we is not used to this!  Maybe tomorrow we will change our minds.

  2. Changing diet is always an adventure! Some of us (Beebs and Tama) love raw meat but in the shape of fresh cuts of beef or veal from the butcher.

  3. On the floor! That's funny! They'll get used to it. Maybe it needs to be smaller?

  4. Your post and pictures made us laff an laff. Mushy stuff on the floor, indeed! Us kitties here are always happy when there's kittens around cuz we get all the leftovers that Coco won't eat--Teri trys to tempt her with all kinds of canned food so she keeps her calories and water consumption up. We haven't done raw though, but we think the food you are feeding is a good one and comes with high praises from Daisy and Harley!

  5. Attie, when our mom switched us, Pip and Smidgen were kibble addicts! It was a slow process. They were like you and Audrey. She started with mixing the kibble with stinky goodness. Ask your mommeh to try that maybe at first - then start mixing the stinky goodness with the raw. Then you don't waste too many green papers on the raw food you don't eat. We are drooling over the pic-shers of your food dishes, mol!

  7. That is funny that you put the meat on the floor. That is one way to show your opinion, huh? Maybe you will like it if you ever take a tiny taste. Wishing you the best. Hugs and nose kisses

  8. I have to say, my human once tried giving us cats a lump of raw food like that and we didn't think it was edible, either. If you guys eat kibble all the time, maybe you should start off with switching over to a good, grain-free cat food, and then start mixing the raw mush in with that. My human did not try that, and maybe she should have!

  9. When we switched, Harley took to the raw food right away. At first, I refused it. Then my Mommeh put just a tiny amount (like 1/8 teaspoon) mixed in with canned food), and slowly increased the amount. Once I ate that first bit with some raw mixed in, it only took a week or so until I was eating just raw. My Mommeh smashes it up a bit with a fork. For some reason, the "red" meats like beef, bison or venison make me bomit so I eat just the rabbit and the chicken.

  12. Attie, you cracked us up by dropping the foods on the floor!! We bet it will take you a little time to get used to the new foods.

  13. Hello my glorious girl...raw...hmmm....we've had that before, well, not the same raw, just raw turkey that mom ordered for us (grounded up) and I actually liked it, but not tons of it. But I guess it isn't the same as your raw because your raw has other things in it that we kids need. well, as others have said, it takes time to adjust to..perhaps soon you will be loving it...just think of it as kitty sushi!! We think it is great that your Mom loves you so much that she will go the holistic route....and she is right about the chemicals...bad. But as for the new diet, it doesn't mean that you can't have a nice treat now and then, right?? You aren't on a slimming diet, just a healthy one...treats aren't bad, are they? You let me know if you need anything and I will send you a secret package full of junk kitty food to a secret location where you can get to them whenever you want. OK?? Deal. Purrs, your mancat Lolo

  14. We won't eat raw food either, and if mum gives me something I don't like, I hook it out of the dish with my paw and flick it on the fridge.
